Dear Residents,

As residents of the District and as Board members, our top priority is to ensure every MUD 144 resident has access to potable water and accurate, up to date information.

Naegleria Fowleri cannot sustain life in the MUD 144 water supply. The District is required to maintain certain disinfection levels by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality that are scientifically proven to kill Naegleria Fowleri and other unwanted micro-organisms. As such, there is no need to conduct specific tests for Naegleria Fowleri, because the disinfection levels are checked regularly in compliance with State and federal agencies. The District’s most recent water quality report, which scientifically proves Naegleria Fowleri does not exist in the District’s water supply, can be found at the link at the bottom of the page.

Please be advised, MUD 144 water is safe to drink and bathe in. Naegleria Fowleri does not exist in the District water supply, and it cannot enter the human body through the mouth or through water vapors formed during a hot shower.

As previously mentioned, the District’s top priority is the safety of its drinking water.
